We have a big announcement today about the future of the group.
We're planning to transition to working more on doujinshi and older manga rather than currently-running or recently-published manga. We'll no longer be picking up new series or one-shots from future Tsubomi and Yuri Hime issues (and probably not Hirari or Rakuen either, or any other current publication). We're also cutting back our current Tsubomi and Yuri Hime projects to a level we can hope to finish in the next few months (aside from a couple of ongoing series).
The reason for this shift in focus is that we'd like to concentrate on manga/doujinshi that would otherwise be overlooked. Back when we started in 2003, our goal was to make yuri more well-known and to encourage English licenses of yuri titles. The interest and market for yuri has grown over the years--more yuri anthologies have appeared and several yuri series have been licensed for the English-language market. Initiatives like Crunchyroll and JManga have made it easier to get access to the latest stuff from Japan through legitimate channels, and we hope that they'll expand their access to more regions of the world as time goes on. So we feel that we can no longer justify focusing so much on current titles. We'd prefer to put more of our resources into titles that don't have a chance of ever being licensed, particularly ones that we've had on our project list for years but haven't gotten to yet.
